The Palace, the main building of the Mogoșoaia complex, was built by Constantin Brâncoveanu, with the apartments of the ruler’s family on the first floor, which can be reached directly from the courtyard on an external staircase leading to a balcony located on the facade. The ground floor of the palace contains the servants’ rooms, and in the basement there is a cellar with a ceiling consisting of four domes. The lake-facing façade of the palace is a separate one, with a Venetian-inspired lodge with three arches.
Brâncoveanu Cuhnia is located in the courtyard of the palace, with four ventilation towers. Today there is an exhibition space here. The gate tower guards the entrance to the courtyard. In the tower can go up on an external staircase. Both the gate tower and the cuhnia were restored by Martha Bibescu between 1922 and 1930.
The guest house was built by Nicolae Bibescu between 1860-1880, and was originally called Villa Elchinghen. During the communist era, the Writers’ Union House of Creation was here, and now houses a conference center with two rooms, a restaurant, and several accommodations. The guest house harmonizes with the whole complex, being also built in Brancoveanu architectural style and using the same type of materials.
The Mogoșoaia greenhouses were built after 1890. Recently rebuilt, the greenhouses are again used for flower cultivation and as a plastic education workshop for children.
The glacier was used to store the ice cut from Lake Mogoșoaia during the summer.
The chapel built after 1880 is a family necropolis that houses the graves of the last owners and their relatives. Prince Nicolae Bibescu and his wife Louise Ney d’Elchingen, Prince George Bibescu and his wife, Princess Elisabeth Bibescu, Princes Mihai Barasab Brâncoveanul and George Basarab Brâncoveanu.
The church dedicated to Saint George built by Constantin Brâncoveanu in 1688, where the votive painting depicts Prince Constantin Brâncoveanu, his wife Lady Maria (Marica) Brâncoveanu, together with his four sons and six from daughters.
